12/20-12/24 #3

This past weekend I drove with a few friends out to RIT. I have been waiting all winter for their open track meets to start so I can have a chance to run. Since we don’t have indoor track here it is a great opportunity and simulates an indoor meet. I like the meets because it gets me in shape and lets me practice on my form and technique. I mainly focus on the hurdles at these meets. The hurdles are my best individual event and have been improving my time over the years. Last year at this meet my best time was an 8.4 and this year I ran a 7.9 already for the first week with 6 months off. That is great improvement and can be better with more practice leading into the outdoor season. I am extremely excited for the upcoming track season and can’t wait to be together with my friends. Our 4x100 relay of me Jordan, Alex and Dakota has been extremely successful over the years and only lost one race last year. We are looking to improve our times and win every race we attend. It will be a great season and I am excited to see how the state meet goes. Last year our 4x100 relay made it so we are hoping to attend it again. I am also intending to participate in the hurdles at the state meet which is likely going to happen. I know I have improved and wasn’t far off last year. It will be a wonderful year. To improve my speed and technique I am going to continue attending the weight room and lift for my legs. I need to work on some cardio so I can have some endurance, and also practice with a hurdle to improve my flexibility and form. Form is one of the most important things in running or any event and can a significant effect on your performance.
